Short answer: Framer is free to build with and to publish on a framer.website address. Your own domain costs $10 a month on Basic or $30 a month on Pro, per site, billed yearly. Most portfolios and small sites fit on Basic.
We make Framer templates, so we pick plans for real sites all the time. Prices and limits below were checked onframer.com/pricing on November 3, 2026. Framer changes them from time to time, so confirm before you pay.
Our "Try Framer" links are referral links: if you upgrade after following one, we may earn a commission. It costs you nothing extra and does not change what we recommend.
The plans at a glance

What the free plan really gives you
- The full editor, templates, CMS and publishing.
- A live site on a framer.website address, with a Framer badge.
- 1 GB of bandwidth and 500 AI credits to try Framer's AI features.
- Up to three editors in a workspace without a subscription.
What it does not give you: your own domain. Framer also says the free plan is ideal for non-commercial use, so a business site belongs on a paid plan.
Basic or Pro?
Choose Basic if your site has up to 30 pages and needs at most two CMS collections, for example projects and a blog. This covers most portfolios, landing pages and small business sites.
Choose Pro if you need more pages or collections, more than 1,000 CMS items, redirects from an old site, a staging site to test changes, or more bandwidth.
Both include your own domain, built-in SEO settings and site analytics: 30 days of history on Basic, 90 on Pro.
Costs people miss
- Extra editors: $20 a month each, or $10 for a content-only editor. The workspace owner and viewers are free.
- Translations: each extra language is a $20 a month add-on.
- Going over limits: for bandwidth Framer lets you exceed the limit for a month and emails you. Other limits ask you to upgrade.
- The domain: included on yearly billing. On monthly billing, budget for buying one yourself.
Which plan our templates need
Count the CMS collections first: that is the limit people hit on Basic.
| Template | CMS collections | Pages | Plan |
|---|---|---|---|
| Alpine App | None | 4 | Basic |
| Ethan Walker | 3 (Projects, Services, Privacy Policy) | 7 | Pro, or Basic after removing one collection |
| Harrier | 2 (Blog, Changelog) | Several plus CMS pages | Basic |
| Softic Studio | 2 (Projects, Team) | 7 | Basic |
Ethan Walker keeps its privacy policy in the CMS. If you are on Basic, turn that page into a normal page and you are down to two collections.
How to spend the least
- Build the whole site on the free plan first: start a free Framer account. You only pay when you publish on your domain.
- Start on Basic. You can upgrade to Pro later without rebuilding anything.
- Pay yearly if you are sure: it is cheaper and includes a domain.
- Start from a free template, so the only cost is the plan. See the best free Framer portfolio templates.
Questions
Is Framer free?
Yes, to build and test. The Free plan publishes your site on a framer.website address with a Framer badge, and Framer describes it as ideal for non-commercial use. Your own domain needs a paid plan.
How much does Framer cost per month?
Basic is $10 a month and Pro is $30 a month per site when billed yearly. Paying month by month costs more. Enterprise is priced on request.
Can I use my own domain on the free plan?
No. A custom domain needs Basic or Pro. On yearly billing Framer includes a complimentary domain.
Do I pay per site or per account?
Per site. Each published site has its own plan. Building and testing more sites on the Free plan costs nothing.
Do free Framer templates cost anything?
The template itself is free to copy. You pay only for the plan of the site you publish, and for a domain if you do not use the complimentary one.
